Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd is developing the Koskela depot to serve the evolving needs of metropolitan tram traffic, including general growth in traffic volume as well as requirements of the upcoming urban boulevards.
In the Koskela depot project the current premises, some up to 80 years old, will be replaced with a new tram depot and rail maintenance facilities. Upon completion, the Koskela depot will serve as one of Helsinki’s two main tramway depots, alongside Ruskeasuo depot.
CAPEX Advisors developed a financial model for evaluating the Koskela depot project’s different development options, including financing cost forecasts, assessments of intra-user payment mechanisms as well as user payment levels. We also prepared presentation materials related to the topics of finance and ownership structures for the project’s decision-makers and other stakeholders.
The Koskela depot greenfield development project will begin in 2024, with commissioning of the new depot expected in 2029.
