As the ”Grand Old Man” of life cycle projects, Esa has exceptionally extensive experience in life cycle projects offered in Finland, both in the role of provider and implementer. During the years 2009–2018, Lemminkäinen won 21 life cycle schools, kindergartens, multi-purpose centers or wellness centers under his supervision, thus being a clear market leader with project volume of around €500 million.
Esa has versatile experience in PPP projects implemented and offered in Finland, e.g., Järvenpää-Lahti, Lohja–Muurla, Koskenkylä–Kotka and Hamina–Vaalimaa motorway projects and Ylivieska–Oulu railway project. Of these, Lemminkäinen Oyj was implementing the Lohja–Muurla project, where Esa served on the board of the project company Tieyhtiö Ykköstie as a represantive of the Lemminkäinen Group.
Along with working on the board of Lemminkäinen’s numerous domestic and foreign group companies, Esa has been preparing e.g., with the municipal association, Rakli and RT, new common service and framework contract models for life cycle projects and related general contract terms and communicated the life cycle philosophy and model as a representative of the construction industry over the years in more than 90 municipalities and cities.
As a result of the Lemminkäinen-YIT merger, Esa left as a “free man” in the spring of 2018. For his merits in working life, Esa received the medal of the Order of the White Rose of Finland in 2017.
